The Nigerian Army on Monday moved to reassure residents of the Federal Capital Territory following an early morning explosion near the Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja.
According to Daily Trust, the blast occurred at a bus stop along the Abuja-Nyanya road, directly in front of the well-known military base.
In a statement, the army confirmed that the situation had been brought under control and urged the public to remain calm, emphasizing that there was no cause for alarm.
Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that a suspected suicide bomber died in the explosion. The incident reportedly caused panic, with passers-by and commuters fleeing the area in fear.
The army, via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stated: “Explosion at bus stop opposite Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja. Situation under control. Details later.”
