Brigadier-General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), the former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC has regained his freedom after spending 56 days in captivity.
Grassroots Parrot had reported how Tsiga was abducted from his hometown in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State on February 5, 2025, alongside nine other residents.
Despite his family paying a ransom, his captors continued to hold him for several more weeks.
Initial reports suggested a ransom of N60 million was paid, but reliable sources told Daily Trust that the actual amount was three times higher.

A close family member disclosed that after receiving the ransom, the kidnappers remained silent for a week before finally contacting the family on March 11.
During the call, they allowed the general to speak with his relatives, assuring them of his safety. The source added that the kidnappers later demanded additional money, which was not provided.
“They asked for more, but nothing was added. As we speak, he is in Zamfara, from where he will be taken to Abuja,” the source revealed.
A senior military official confirmed Tsiga’s release, and sources close to the family stated that he is in good condition.
