A report reaching us just now says the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday affirmed an earlier judgment restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission from validating the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party.
In its decision, the appellate court upheld the lower court’s ruling that barred the electoral body from recognising the outcome of the party’s convention, a development that could further complicate the internal leadership crisis within the opposition party.
The legal dispute stems from disagreements among party stakeholders over the conduct and legitimacy of the convention, which has been a subject of multiple court actions in recent months.
