The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared his withdrawal from all previous agreements reached to resolve the lingering internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), vowing to continue his fight until “justice is attained.”
In a strongly worded statement released on Sunday and personally signed by him, titled “PDP Crisis: My Position,” Wike accused key stakeholders in the party, particularly Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, of betraying mutual understandings and contributing significantly to the PDP’s ongoing turmoil.
According to the former Rivers State governor, the failure of PDP leaders to honor past agreements has deepened the crisis within the party and undermined efforts to restore stability. He identified dishonesty and a lack of trust as the root causes of the party’s disintegration since the 2023 general elections.
“To stem this ugly trend,” Wike said, “efforts have been made to arrest this pernicious virus of dishonesty and treachery and enthrone fidelity to agreements.” He noted that in a G5 governors’ meeting in Lagos, he directly confronted Governor Makinde, accusing him of being “the architect of our problems.”

Wike further disclosed details of a follow-up meeting held at the guest house of former Senate President Bukola Saraki in Abuja, attended by several PDP leaders, including Governors Umaru Fintiri, Bala Mohammed, and Makinde. He claimed that agreements were reached at the meeting, including
- Recognition of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the PDP, in line with a Supreme Court ruling.
- Immediate withdrawal of all legal matters related to Rivers State by the party’s National Legal Adviser.
- An end to all actions undermining party unity, including the withdrawal of a lawsuit on a state of emergency.
Despite the commitments, Wike said the agreements were flagrantly violated, particularly by Governor Makinde and Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State. He accused them of orchestrating a controversial South-East PDP leaders’ meeting and pushing for Ude Okoye’s appointment as National Secretary — moves he described as illegal and divisive.

Wike also condemned recent developments, including a letter issued by the Deputy National Secretary calling for a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and the rejection of the Anambra governorship candidacy confirmation letter signed by Anyanwu and the acting National Chairman. He described these actions as “provocative and annoying.”
Highlighting the party’s failure to conduct a lawful zonal congress in Jos due to INEC’s non-recognition of the Deputy National Secretary’s invitation letter, Wike expressed deep frustration with the conduct of party leaders.
“I have been in this party since 1998 and have worked tirelessly for its survival,” Wike wrote. “It is on record that none of these persons have done anything close to what I have done to sustain this party.”
He lamented the erosion of trust among PDP stakeholders and concluded that continued manipulation within the party leaves him no choice but to pull out of all previously reached agreements.
“I have now firmly decided to pull out of all agreements hitherto reached. I have decided to fight on until justice is attained,” he declared.
