The Kano State Police Command has apprehended a 33-year-old man, Anas Yakubu, for allegedly killing his sister-in-law, Fatima Adamu, in Baura Village, Albasu Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, stated that the tragic event occurred on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., following a dispute between Yakubu and Adamu.
According to police reports, Yakubu allegedly hit Fatima, 35, on the head with a pestle, inflicting severe injuries. She was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Albasu, where medical personnel confirmed her death.

Following the incident, police swiftly arrested the suspect and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was released to her family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
The Kano State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice and urged residents to report any incidents of violence to the authorities. The case remains under investigation, and further details are expected to emerge as the inquiry progresses.
