The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata has suggested that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), consider joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement marking Wike’s 57th birthday, Ata praised his political acumen and transformative leadership, emphasizing his achievements since taking office as FCT Minister in August 2023.
Ata noted that Wike’s experience and popularity could play a key role in securing APC’s victory in Rivers State during the 2027 elections.
“Barr. Wike’s fearless leadership has revitalized Abuja, tackled real estate challenges, and restored the city’s master plan,” Ata stated.

He commended Wike’s efforts in completing long-abandoned infrastructure projects, addressing land-grabbing issues, and establishing the FCT Civil Service Commission, which offers structured career growth for government staff.
Ata highlighted Wike’s tenure as Rivers State governor, where he earned a reputation as one of Nigeria’s best-performing governors, as a testament to his leadership abilities.
Wike, a former PDP stalwart, has drawn attention for his alignment with the APC-led federal government, fueling speculation about his political future. Ata’s call for Wike to join the APC for his growing influence within the ruling party.
