The newly appointed Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Daniel Bwala has dismissed claims that he lobbied for the position.
Bwala, a former spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, clarified this during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television on Monday.
Addressing questions about his selection by President Bola Tinubu, Bwala said he was uncertain about the reasons behind the decision but speculated that it might be tied to his steadfast support for Tinubu during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.

“No, I didn’t lobby,” Bwala said. “The last time I was here, I told you when I met him (President) that I had made up my mind to support his cause.
“Since that January after I appeared on your program, I have been doggedly pursuing that cause. Maybe he saw that and also saw the commitment in it.
But it is something that the President knows I have loved and still love when I supported him in the primaries.”
Bwala expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the President and pledged to serve diligently in his new role.

On Monday, Bwala officially resumed duties at the State House, where he met with journalists for a familiarization briefing.
He urged media professionals and stakeholders to remain focused on their responsibilities despite potential distractions.
“The honour that the President bestowed on me is what I am very grateful for. I am also very committed to ensuring I don’t disappoint Mr. President and the Nigerian people,” he said.
Bwala’s appointment has drawn attention, given his previous role with the opposition People’s Democratic Party.
