The Upper Shari’a Court in Kano, presided over by Ibrahim Sarki Yola, has dismissed allegations of adultery against Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara.
Grassroots Parrot reported how the Kano State Hisbah Board arrested the Jigawa State Commissioner in an uncompleted building with an allegation of engaging in nefarious acts with a married woman.
The case was filed by Nasiru Buba, who accused Sankara of engaging in an illicit affair with his wife, Tasleem Baba Nabegu.
In his ruling, Sarki Yola emphasized the importance of thorough investigations, particularly in cases involving high-profile individuals, to prevent unwarranted reputational damage.

“Following the investigation by the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, the report shows there is no evidence to prove that there was any illicit affair between Auwal Danladi Sankara and Tasleem Baba Nabegu,” the judge said.
The court noted that Buba and his legal team failed to attend the hearing to contest the findings of the police investigation, which had exonerated Sankara.
“Since the complainant and his lawyers are not present to challenge the submission by the police, I have no choice but to strike out the case,” Yola declared.
Sankara’s counsel, Barrister Sadam Suleiman, welcomed the verdict, reaffirming his client’s innocence.
“We have always maintained that our client is innocent. The court has affirmed this by clearing his name based on the police investigation,” Suleiman said.

On the other hand, Tasleem Baba Nabegu’s lawyer, Rabiu Shu’aibu, hinted at the possibility of taking legal action against Buba for defamation.
“We will discuss with our client to explore the possibility of filing a case against Nasiru Buba, as he has defamed her name,” Shu’aibu stated.
The ruling has brought temporary relief to Sankara and Nabegu, but the possibility of a defamation lawsuit indicates that the legal battle may not yet be over.
The case highlights the need for caution and substantiated evidence in sensitive allegations to uphold justice and protect reputations.
