A Federal High Court sitting in Audu Bako Secretariat, Kano State, has ordered the remand of 35-year-old Sadiq Zubairu on charges of abduction and murder following the death of his friend, Bello Bukar, a staff member of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
Recall, Grassroots Parrot reported how Zubairu, a resident of Hotoron Arewa Quarters in Nassarawa LGA, is accused of conspiring with two accomplices, who are still at large, to kill Bello over a failed job promise.
According to court records, Zubairu allegedly took N3 million from Bello under the pretense of securing him a job at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
When he could not repay the funds, Zubairu reportedly arranged with two accomplices to carry out the murder.

The suspect reportedly confessed to taking Bello’s two mobile phones and hiding his car, valued at N12 million, at a garage in Hotoro Quarters, Kano. Police have since recovered the vehicle.
Sadiq Zubairu, represented by Barrister Abdussalam Dan Maidaki, pleaded not guilty to charges of armed robbery and murder.
The incident unfolded in May 2024, when Bello’s family reported him missing after he left home to meet Zubairu.
His body was later discovered in Kumbotso LGA. Bello’s younger brother, Abdullahi Abubakar, recounted that Bello had received an urgent call from Zubairu, whom he trusted as a confidant and former colleague.

Kano State Police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed that Zubairu admitted to orchestrating the crime.
“Sadiq deceitfully collected N3 million from late Bello under false pretenses, claiming he could get him a job,” Kiyawa stated. Lacking the funds to return the money, Zubairu reportedly enlisted two others to carry out the murder.
As investigations continue, the remand order and upcoming trial mark the start of legal proceedings in this tragic case.
