A 72-year-old man and his two children have been arraigned before Magistrate Court No. 28 in Gano, Kano State, over allegations of selling illicit drugs in their community.
The defendants, who are residents of Unguwar Makera in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, were brought before the court following a complaint lodged by residents led by the village head of Tamburawar Dan-Tube, Alhaji Auwalu Umar.
According to reports, the case stemmed from a dispute that began when the head of the local vigilante group cautioned the elderly man to desist from selling hard drugs in the area. The warning allegedly sparked a confrontation involving his children, during which a vigilante member was injured.

Police authorities said the suspects were subsequently arrested and charged with conspiracy, intimidation, and possession of hard drugs, following reports from concerned community members.
During the court proceedings presided over by Magistrate Malika Muhammad, the defendants’ family reportedly sought an amicable settlement with the complainants to resolve the matter out of court.
The court, however, granted the accused persons bail under strict conditions, including that the 72-year-old man must personally appear at every sitting as the case proceeds.
The matter has been adjourned to a later date for continuation of hearing.
