The Kano State House of Assembly has passed into law a bill seeking the creation of second-class Emirates in the state.

The House passed the bill on Tuesday during its plenary, presided over by the Speaker of the House, Jibril Ismail Falgore.

Muhammad Bello Butubutu, the house deputy speaker moved for the adoption and passage of the bill after the second and third readings.

The development came on the heel of the lingering battle for the throne in the state between the reinstated Kano Emir, Muhammed Sanusi II, and the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.

Grassroots Parrot gathered that the new second-class emirates include Rano, Karaye, and Gaya.

The affected locations, including Bichi, recently lost their first-class emirs when Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf dethroned the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, and four other emirs.

However, Bichi was excluded in the bill passed into law on Tuesday.

The ongoing emirship tussle in Kano had witnessed a series of dramas since Muhammad Sanusi II was reinstated by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as the 16th Emir of Kano.

Grassroots Parrot had reported how Governor Yusuf dethroned Bayero and four other emirs and ordered them to hand over power within 48 hours.

But Bayero, who was out of Kano at the time the order was given, returned and moved into the mini palace in Nasarawa.

Following this development, Governor Yusuf ordered the immediate arrest of Emir Bayero. The development prompted Bayero to contest his dethronement in court.

Bayero also asked the court to nullify the law through which the governor deposed him and reinstated Sanusi.
