One of the worshippers affected by the incident at a mosque in the Laraba Abasawa area of the Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano is dead.
AIG Umar Mamman Sanda disclosed this on Wednesday when he led a delegation of security personnel to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano, where the injured are being treated.
The Commissioner of Police in the State and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) were part of the delegation.
“What happened is not associated with any act of terrorism, but rather, it was a skirmish that arose as a result of inheritance distribution.”
“The suspect was said to be not satisfied with the distribution… and was reacting to that. He is presently with us and is giving out useful information.

“Out of the 24 that were admitted here, one is dead. It is really unfortunate. He used a locally made bomb to commit the crime.” Sanda said.
The AIG therefore called for calm as the matter has been taken up by the security operatives, adding that the state government is doing everything possible to provide medical care to the victims on admission.
Shafiu Aminu, a Kano resident, set a mosque on fire at Laraba Abasawa in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State on Wednesday morning, leaving many worshipers injured.
Members of the community were observing the ‘Subh’ prayer when the arsonist struck.
According to a member of the community who asked not to be named, “the man used gasoline and lit fire while the people—about 40 of them—were praying. He locked the mosque after the fire.”
Aminu reportedly submitted himself to the police after the incident.
