The Kano State Hisbah Board says it will sponsor the weddings of repentant thugs as part of a rehabilitation initiative aimed at helping them reintegrate into society.
Commander-General of the Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, announced the plan after more than 1,000 youths surrendered their weapons and renounced violence.
He said the initiative aligns with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s agenda of providing opportunities for young people to live decent and productive lives.

According to him, repentant youths will undergo police screening, followed by further assessment by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to verify their sincerity.
Those who successfully complete the process will be given vocational training, start-up funds, educational support, and wedding sponsorship.
Some youth leaders who participated in the programme, including Kamilu and Buzu Mai Kidan Gangi, commended the state government for backing their decision to abandon violence.
The Hisbah Board urged other youths still involved in criminal activities to embrace repentance, assuring them of the government’s readiness to assist in their rehabilitation.
