The management of Bayero University, Kano, (BUK) has announced the suspension of lectures and other academic activities at its campuses indefinitely.

Grassroots Parrot had reported how the university snubbed the planned nationwide hunger protest and assured that all academic activities would continue.

But in a twist of events, on Monday, Lamara Garba, Deputy Registrar, Public Affairs, confirmed the suspension in a statement made available to Grassroots Parrot.

Garba said the decision to suspend the lectures until further notice was made by the management of the university “after a careful review of the situation in Kano State with respect to the ongoing national protest.”

The statement, however, assured the university community that all academic and administrative activities will resume fully as soon as normalcy returns.
