The Kano State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with Sunday’s violent disturbance at the Kofar Kudu palace residence of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrests on Tuesday, stating that the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing investigation.

According to Haruna, the incident was allegedly orchestrated by supporters of the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, who reportedly targeted the palace gate and disrupted public peace.

In response, the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has set up a panel to thoroughly investigate the incident and identify all individuals involved in the attack.

The police have urged residents of Kano to remain calm and cooperate with authorities as measures are being taken to prevent further escalation of tension in the ancient city.
