He assured the public that efforts are underway to swiftly resolve the prevalent water shortage in the state capital and its surrounding areas, expressing confidence that the situation will be resolved in the coming days.

The commissioner attributed the water scarcity issue to outdated infrastructure, particularly at the Tamburawa Water Treatment Plant, which serves as the primary water source for most parts of the Kano metropolis.

He also highlighted the impact of high temperatures in the region, which lead to increased water consumption among residents to cope with the weather conditions.

Makoda criticized the previous administration for neglecting the water sector, stating that only 20% of the state’s water demand was met during its tenure.

In contrast, he asserted that the current administration has significantly improved water supply, meeting over 60% of the populace’s needs.

To address long-term water supply challenges, Makoda announced a strategic partnership with the French government to invest 63.4 million Euros in constructing the third Kano Water Treatment Plant.

He reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring access to safe drinking water for all residents, underscoring Governor Abba Yusuf’s decisive actions in allocating significant financial resources towards achieving this goal.
