At least 11 youths and residents of Yobe State were arrested on Saturday morning as the Nigeria Police Force intensified its crackdown on the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests.
Grassroots Parrot learned that the arrests were carried out forcefully at the homes of the youths in Damaturu, Potiskum, and Gashua.
Those arrested were considered to be at the forefront of the ongoing nationwide protests in the state. “A number of youths were also arrested in Damaturu and Potiskum in what appears to be an attempt to punish those who were outspoken about the ongoing economic hardship,” the source said. The 11 youths arrested in Gashua have reportedly been taken to the state police CID in Damaturu.
