The Oba-elect of Araromi-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti Oba Babalola Adebomi was arraigned before the Federal High Court sitting in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State, on Monday, May 20, for alleged forgery.
The charge sheet, marked FHC/AK/16/2024, outlined two counts of certificate forgery leveled against the monarch by the police.
It was alleged that Adebomi had forged a certificate from the University of Ibadan and presented it to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, for a job opportunity back in 2008.

He was also accused of forging his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate and presenting it to the same institution for employment.
Upon his arraignment, Adebomi pleaded not guilty to the charges, maintaining his innocence. Represented by his counsel, Attah Paul filed an application on notice, requesting the court hear his application.
However, the prosecuting counsel, Itunun Osobu, expressed unreadiness to address the issues raised by the defense, citing a pending review of the counter-affidavit.

Osobu informed the court of his intention to present two witnesses to substantiate the charges against the defendant.
Meanwhile, Adebomi’s counsel urged the court to grant him bail, assuring that his client would not abscond.
In his ruling, Justice Owoeye ordered the detention of the defendant in the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police.
