An unidentified man has been found dead inside a well at an uncompleted building in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.

The Kano State Fire Service spokesperson, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in a statement, revealing that the decomposing body was retrieved on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

According to the statement, the fire service’s central control room received an emergency call at approximately 4:15 p.m. from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kwalli Police Division, reporting a lifeless body sighted in a well at Kadama Bakin Titi, Kumbotso.

The rescue team arrived at the scene by 4:40 p.m., observing dried blood stains around the well.

Peering into the well, the team found the body of a man, approximately 25 years old, in an advanced state of decomposition.

Abdullahi noted, “The body was swollen, indicating that he must have been in the well for the last four days or thereabouts, according to local residents.” Local inhabitants confirmed that the man was unfamiliar to them.

After retrieving the body, the fire service handed it over to ASP Sani Abdulhamid, Deputy Crime Officer (DCO2) of Kumbotso Police Division.

The police have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances leading to the man’s death.
