In a major leadership reshuffle, the Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr. Abayomi Akinruntan, and the Majority Leader, Mr. Ogunmolasuyi, have both resigned from their positions.

Akinruntan, who represents Ilaje Constituency 1, and Ogunmolasuyi, representing Owo Constituency 1, are prominent members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement was made during Tuesday’s plenary session, presided over by the Speaker, Mr. Olamide Oladiji. According to Akinruntan, his resignation was in line with ongoing political power-sharing arrangements within the state.

Following their exit, the House swiftly filled the leadership vacancies. Mr. Ololade Gbegudu of Okitipupa Constituency 2 has been appointed the new Deputy Speaker, while Mr. Olatunji Oshati, representing Ose Constituency, now serves as the new Majority Leader.
