In a shocking incident that has shaken the Ilorin community, the lifeless body of a 21-year-old female student from Kwara State College of Health Technology, Mojisola Awesu, was discovered at a refuse dump in the Aleniboro area of Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

The gruesome discovery was made on August 12, 2024, and has since led to the arrest of several suspects as investigations continue.

The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, revealed details of the case in a statement released on Tuesday. According to Ejire-Adeyemi, a concerned resident alerted the authorities after some laborers stumbled upon the body while working in the area.

Police operatives were dispatched to the scene, where the deceased was identified as Mojisola Awesu before her body was taken to a morgue.

Further details emerged when, on August 13, a missing person report was filed by Miss Blessing, a close friend and roommate of the deceased. Blessing reported that Mojisola had left home on August 9, 2024, to attend a party allegedly organized by students from Summit University and Al-Hikmah University, both located in Ilorin.

The police statement disclosed that Mojisola had received a phone call from another friend, Miss Timileyin, who had invited her to the party. Timileyin allegedly introduced Mojisola to one Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a student of Summit University, who had offered her N15,000 to pose as his girlfriend during the event.

The police have since apprehended several suspects in connection with the incident, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we are determined to uncover the circumstances that led to the tragic death of Mojisola Awesu,” DSP Ejire-Adeyemi stated, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
