The Kano State Police Command has dismissed a constabulary officer, Ado Abba, for engaging in unauthorized stop-and-search operations and extorting members of the public.

The dismissal was announced on Wednesday, January 30, 2025, by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

According to Kiyawa, the decision followed numerous complaints from the public regarding Abba’s misconduct. A thorough investigation was conducted, which confirmed his involvement in the illegal activities, leading to his dismissal from the Constabulary.

“We received several complaints about his actions, and after investigations, his guilt was established,” Kiyawa stated. “He is officially dismissed and is no longer part of the Constabulary.”

As part of the disciplinary action, the police command also confiscated Abba’s uniform, preventing him from further misrepresenting the force.

Kiyawa emphasized the importance of public cooperation in reporting misconduct within the police force. He reassured residents that the command remains committed to maintaining integrity, professionalism, and the rule of law.

“When you witness any unlawful activity, report it, and we will take decisive action,” he assured.

Furthermore, Kiyawa commended the dedication and professionalism of other Constabulary members who continue to uphold peace and security in Kano State. He encouraged officers to remain diligent and honest in their duties to foster public trust in the police force.
