The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has signaled readiness to receive Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after his exit from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), hinting that his formal defection to the ruling party may be imminent.

Grassroots Parrot reports that Governor Yusuf had on Friday resigned from the NNPP.

Speaking on the matter, the APC State Secretary, Ibrahim Zakari Sarina, said the party was keeping its position measured for now but remained optimistic about the governor’s next political step.

According to Sarina, although Governor Yusuf has not yet publicly declared his allegiance to the APC, the party is confident that such a move could happen in the near future, stressing that there are no barriers to his entry.

He described the governor’s possible defection as a significant political gain for the APC, especially amid reports that Yusuf is being followed by several elected officials, appointees and loyal supporters.

Sarina revealed that the party had already begun internal preparations ahead of any formal announcement, including assigning a special electronic registration identity to the governor at his Chiranci-Diso ward.

He added that the APC’s welcome extends beyond the governor himself, noting that the party is fully prepared to integrate his political structure, cabinet members and supporters once the defection becomes official.
