The Airforce Comprehensive School in Kano State has been closed indefinitely following a suspected outbreak of diphtheria that reportedly claimed the life of an SS3 student and left another hospitalized.

On Tuesday evening, boarding students were seen leaving the school, located within the Airforce Base in Kano, after being directed to return home. A source confirmed that the institution would remain closed until the second term begins in January 2025.

“The students have been discharged, and the school will reopen in January,” the source said.
