The Kano State Government has announced the postponement of the resumption date for both primary and secondary schools for the 2024/2025 academic session. The decision was made public on Saturday in a statement issued by the Commissioner of Education, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa.
The announcement, signed by Abdullahi Balarabe Kiru, the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Education, cited “urgent reasons” as the basis for delaying the previously scheduled resumption dates of September 8 and 9, 2024.
“I wish to inform pupils, students, and parents that the announcement earlier made for schools’ resumption on 8th and 9th September 2024 is now being postponed due to some urgent reasons that would help in improving a conducive learning atmosphere for our children,” Commissioner Doguwa explained.
While the statement did not specify the reasons for the postponement, it assured that the Ministry of Education is committed to ensuring a favorable learning environment for all students. The commissioner also mentioned that a new resumption date would be announced in due course.
The statement concluded by appealing to students and parents to be patient and understanding, acknowledging any inconvenience the postponement may cause.
