An incident occurred today at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport involving an airplane operated by Dana Airline. The affected aircraft, identified as a McDonald Douglas (MD-83) with registration number 5N-BKI, had a total of 83 passengers on board at the time of the event.
According to Mr. Kingsley Ezenwa, the spokesman for the airline, all passengers and crew onboard the flight disembarked safely without any injuries. In a statement issued by Dana Air, Ezenwa expressed regret over the runway incursion incident.
“Dana Air regrets to inform the public of a runway incursion involving one of our aircraft, registration number 5N BKI, which was flying from Abuja to Lagos today, 23/04/24,” said Ezenwa.

He further added, “We are relieved to confirm that all 83 passengers and crew onboard the flight disembarked safely without injuries or scare as the crew handled the situation with utmost professionalism.”
Following the incident, Dana Air has informed the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and grounded the aircraft involved for further investigation by their maintenance team.
“We have also updated the Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on the incident, and the aircraft involved has been grounded by our maintenance team for further investigation,” Ezenwa stated.

Dana Air also extended its sincere apologies and appreciation to the affected passengers for their patience and understanding during the situation.
