The Jigawa State Government has declared Wednesday, August 27, 2025, as a work-free day in commemoration of the 34th anniversary of the state’s creation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 26, and signed by the Head of Service, Muhammad Dagaceri, the government congratulated the people of the state and urged them to dedicate the day to prayers for Jigawa’s progress and Nigeria’s unity.

Dagaceri noted that the holiday would allow residents to reflect on the state’s journey since its creation.

“It is hoped that all public servants and the entire people of the state will utilise the one-day break in thanking the Almighty Allah for His blessings and for the peaceful coexistence being enjoyed,” the statement read.

Jigawa State was created on August 27, 1991, by the then Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida, after it was carved out of the old Kano State.
