The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old woman, Aisha Lawal, of Dorayi Quarters, for the alleged murder of her 3-year-old stepson, Ra’is, Grassroots Parrot reports.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspect was apprehended following a report filed by the deceased child’s biological mother, Aisha Auwalu.
In her complaint, Auwalu alleged that the current wife of her ex-husband, Aisha Lawal, poured hot water on her son, who was in the custody of his father after their divorce.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with our correspondent, Kiyawa confirmed that the incident led to the child’s death.
“The boy was pronounced dead by a health practitioner at the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where he was taken for treatment.” He said.
The police spokesperson assured the public that the command is handling the case with utmost seriousness and pledged that justice will be served.
He further noted that investigations are ongoing and updates will be provided as new information emerges.
