The Osun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the driver of a Lexus vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident that claimed the lives of two police officers along the Osogbo-Gbongan Road in Oogi community.

Police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the officers, identified as Kehinde and Tobi, were riding on a motorcycle on Wednesday when they were struck by the vehicle.

The driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the crash, abandoning the car.

According to Ojelabi, the police have recovered both the Lexus vehicle and the motorcycle involved in the accident and have taken them into custody as part of ongoing investigations.

He added that efforts are underway to track down the fleeing driver, while one of the deceased officers has already been buried according to Islamic rites.

The command assured that a thorough investigation is ongoing to ensure the suspect is brought to justice.
