Residents of Special Site in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State have expressed shock and outrage following the discovery of aborted twins in a refuse dump within the community.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, left many residents visibly distressed, with witnesses describing the scene as both heartbreaking and deeply unsettling.

The fetuses, believed to be about five months old, a male and a female, were reportedly found inside a polythene bag at a dumpsite located behind a residential area.

A resident, Enman Danladi, whose home is near the site, said the discovery was first made by a local farmer who noticed suspicious activity around the bag.

According to him, the man observed a dog sniffing the bag with flies hovering around it, prompting him to investigate further.

“He chased the dog away, checked the bag, and discovered the twins before quickly alerting me,” Danladi said, adding that he immediately informed neighbours and about eight residents gathered to confirm the situation.

Describing the moment, Danladi said it was a painful sight that sparked anger and emotional reactions among community members, particularly women, some of whom broke down in tears.

The residents later buried the foetuses near the dumpsite, condemning the act and expressing frustration over the difficulty of identifying those responsible.

Danladi noted that such incidents are often linked to outsiders, making investigations challenging.

He added that the community has since been enveloped in a sombre mood, with many still shaken by the disturbing discovery.
