Gunmen launched a deadly attack on Faruruwa village in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State on Thursday night, resulting in the death of a prominent businessman.
Grassroots Parrot reports that the gunmen also abducted a young boy, while another individual sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh during the violent incident.
The assault occurred while the village’s weekly market was in full swing, drawing traders and residents from surrounding areas.
Eyewitnesses reported that the armed assailants stormed the market in a surprise ambush, opening fire and creating panic among the crowd.

During the chaos, the attackers shot and killed Alhaji Rabilu, a well-known businessman in the area.
A local resident, who requested anonymity due to safety concerns, described the village as being in a state of deep grief.
The source noted that although such attacks have occurred in the past, this latest incident has sent shockwaves through the already-vulnerable community.
The injured victim was promptly taken to Bichi General Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the burial of Alhaji Rabilu, which is expected to take place Friday morning in accordance with Islamic rites.
As of the time of reporting, the Kano State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
