Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appointed his former Chief of Staff, Gwani Shehu Wada Sagagi, as the Secretary and Head of the Secretariat for the newly established Kano State Shura Council.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa announcing the formation of the new Shura council.
The Shura Council, a key advisory body, consists of 46 esteemed members, including Islamic scholars, academics, and respected community leaders.
It is tasked with providing counsel to the government on socio-economic and religious matters, reflecting the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and cultural values.

Professor Shehu Galadanci has been named Chairman of the council, while Professor Muhammad Sani Zahraddeen will serve as Vice Chairman.
Other notable members include Sheikh Abdulwahhab Abdallah, Sheikh Karibullah Nasiru Kabara, Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, and Sheikh Tijjani Bala Kalarawi.
Gwani Shehu Wada Sagagi, as Secretary, will oversee the council’s secretariat, ensuring seamless coordination and operational efficiency. His appointment underscores the governor’s trust in Sagagi’s administrative capabilities and dedication.
Governor Yusuf emphasized the critical role of the Shura Council as the apex socio-religious advisory body in Kano. He highlighted its mission to foster peace, unity, and development across the state.

He urged them to uphold the trust placed in them and work diligently toward achieving the council’s objectives.
