Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the composition of the Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) in a move to safeguard the rights and interests of consumers across the state.

A statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, announced that the newly formed council comprises seasoned professionals, government officials, and business representatives.

The council is tasked with ensuring fair trade practices and protecting consumers from exploitation.

According to the statement, the council will be chaired by Umar Garba Haruna, with Zangina Jafaru serving as the Executive Secretary. Other appointed members include:

Governor Yusuf emphasized that the council’s primary mandate is to protect consumer rights and ensure businesses operate under fair, transparent, and lawful conditions.

He noted that the initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to promoting good governance, enhancing market confidence, and protecting the public from substandard products and unethical business practices.

The governor directed the council to commence operations immediately to address consumer complaints, regulate trade practices, and foster a healthy business environment in Kano State.
