Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has revealed the reasons behind the reinstatement of the Emir of Gaya, Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, citing the Emir show of humility, patience, and unwavering faith in Allah during his dethronement.

The governor made this known through his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a statement issued on Thursday following a Sallah homage visit by the Emir to the Government House in Kano.

Governor Yusuf commended the Emir for the dignified manner in which he accepted his removal from office, describing his conduct as a true reflection of leadership and submission to divine will.

“The Emir of Gaya demonstrated true submission to the will of Allah when he was dethroned. He did not resist or protest but accepted it with grace and placed his trust in Allah,” Governor Yusuf stated.“It was this exceptional humility and patience that paved the way for his reinstatement,” he added.

The governor assured the Emir of his administration’s dedication to the development of the Gaya Emirate. He disclosed that a team of engineers had already been deployed to assess road conditions and identify other key infrastructural needs in the area.

“Our government is committed to transforming Gaya into a modern city. We are starting with the construction of feeder roads and will proceed with building culverts to prevent flooding and improve drainage systems,” he said.

Governor Yusuf also reiterated his support for traditional institutions, emphasizing their critical role in fostering peace, unity, and preserving cultural heritage.

In his response, Emir Abdulkadir expressed gratitude to the governor for the trust placed in him and pledged his full support for the government’s development efforts in the Emirate and its continued peace and progress.

Gaya is one of the five emirates created by former Kano Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in 2019 with new first-class Emirs, a move that was later reversed in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who viewed the creation of the new emirates as a deliberate attempt to weaken the historic Kano Emirate.
