The Federal Government of Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to bolstering the Nigeria Police Force with modern equipment and resources to improve its operational effectiveness. This pledge was made on Saturday during the graduation ceremony of 478 students from the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano State.

President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, emphasized the importance of equipping the police force with the necessary tools to fulfill its responsibilities effectively. He also emphasized the critical need for the newly commissioned officers to shun corruption and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in their duties.

“We are embarking on a massive recruitment drive into the Police Force aimed at empowering our youth to participate in national security efforts,” Tinubu announced. He urged the graduates to adhere strictly to the ethics of modern policing, ensuring they contribute positively to the nation’s security.

The President expressed confidence in the comprehensive training received by the officers, both academically and professionally, and assured continued support from the Federal Government to the academy. He described the institution as one of the premier training grounds for police officers in Sub-Saharan Africa.

“As you graduate today, you are not just receiving a certificate but are becoming ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Service,” Tinubu stated. He charged the new officers to prioritize the nation’s interests, discharge their duties with dedication, and maintain vigilance while upholding the ideals of the police force.

The President also highlighted the significance of integrity, compassion, and professionalism in the graduates’ future roles, reminding them that their actions would reflect on the entire police institution and the country.

Earlier in the ceremony, the Commandant of the Academy, AIG Sadiq Abubakar, praised the Federal Government’s investment in the academy and highlighted the rigorous training provided to the graduates. He noted that 17 programs offered by the academy have been accredited by the National Universities Commission, ensuring high academic standards.

As the new officers embark on their careers, they carry the hopes and expectations of enhancing Nigeria’s security and contributing to national development. The ceremony concluded with a call for them to serve with honor, dignity, and respect for all Nigerians.
