Farouk Lawan, a former House of Representatives member, has been released from prison.

Lawan was released on Tuesday morning from Kuje Correctional facility in Abuja after serving a five-year jail term.

Grassroots Parrot recalled that Farouk Lawan, former Chairman, House of Reps probe panel on oil subsidy regime, bagged a 7-year jail term for receiving a $3 million bribe from oil magnate, Femi Otedola.

Justice Angela Otaluka of FCT High Court at Apo found the former lawmaker guilty on all three count charges the ICPC preferred against him.

The Judge ordered him to refund $500.000 dollars to the federal government.
