The ongoing crisis within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has escalated following the emergence of new ward executives from Ganduje ward. This new faction, hailing from Dawakin Tofa local government area of the state, asserts their legitimacy as the authentic ward executives, citing their election on July 31, 2021.
In a press briefing held in Kano on Sunday, Ja’afar Adamu Ganduje, the secretary of Ganduje ward, representing 11 other executives, addressed journalists. He outlined their decision to suspend former Governor of Kano, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, based on allegations of anti-party activities.
These activities allegedly led to internal division and the party’s failure during the last election. Ja’afar Adamu, who is also Ganduje’s nephew, accused the former governor of igniting conflicts of interest, resulting in the emergence of two factional executives within the ward.

Additionally, Adamu claimed that the embattled APC national chairman has not been fulfilling his statutory party dues, further exacerbating the situation.
According to Adamu, “We are the authentic executives of Ganduje ward and we have passed a vote of no confidence and imposed a new suspension on Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for a series of reasons.” He reiterated that the two factions claiming to represent Ganduje ward are fraudulent and were orchestrated by Dr. Ganduje and other dissenting elements within the party.
Adamu emphasized the intention of the genuine Ganduje ward leaders to pursue legal action against the two factions that had earlier claimed legitimacy as ward executives.
