The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, has declared that his reign as monarch would be truly fulfilled if the long-standing agitation for the creation of Ibadan State is actualized.

Oba Ladoja made this known on Tuesday while receiving the Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who paid him a courtesy visit at his Bodija residence in Ibadan.

Speaking passionately about the demand, Ladoja noted that Ibadan, with its 11 local government areas, has the population and size required to merit state status.

Aside achieving other things in life, what is left for me is the actualization of Ibadan State. I want this to happen during my reign as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.” He said

“The creation of Ibadan State is long overdue. Relevant stakeholders and interest groups are working towards its actualization.” he added.

Earlier in his remarks, Governor Adeleke congratulated Oba Ladoja on his nomination and approval by Governor Seyi Makinde as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. He described the monarch-in-waiting as a man of destiny whose resilience and courage have defined his life journey.

Your resilience and approach to life are responsible for your achievements. You have once served as governor, senator, and now the Olubadan-designate. You have weathered many storms and came out unhurt. That shows strength and destiny,” Adeleke said.

The push for Ibadan State has been a recurring demand by traditional rulers, political leaders, and stakeholders in Oyo State, with advocates stressing that the city’s size and contribution to national development justify its elevation into statehood.
