In the early hours of Tuesday, suspected bandits reportedly killed Dr. Tiri Gyan David, a lecturer at the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State.

Dr. David, who is the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development, was attacked at his residence in Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area.

Grassroots Parrot gathered that the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when the bandits invaded the community with sophisticated weapons, shooting sporadically to scare the residents. The assailants invaded Dr. David’s residence, killed him, and abducted his two children.

The Katsina Police Command spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident and mentioned that a detailed statement would be released.

Dutsinma is one of the ten frontline local government areas in Katsina State frequently targeted by bandit attacks, despite ongoing efforts by the state government and security agencies to restore peace.
