The Yobe State Police Command has arrested the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Karasuwa Local Government Area, Abdulmumini Garba, in connection with the alleged killing of a 45-year-old woman, identified as Falmata Abubakar.

The victim’s body was discovered recently near the Federal University, Gashua, sparking public concern and police investigation.

In a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the arrest of the 60-year-old APC official followed “diligent investigation and sustained intelligence efforts.”

“Police operativesfrom Bade Division arrested one Abdulmumini Garba, 60, of Gasma in Karasuwa Local Government Area, who serves as the Secretary of the APC Karasuwa and also the Secretary of the Vegetables Market (Kasuwan Gwari) in Gashua, in connection with the death of late Falmata Abubakar, aged 45, of Abasha, Sarkin Hausawa Ward, Gashua,” the statement read.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to conveying the deceased in his vehicle before an argument broke out over her request for financial assistance to boost her business.

“The altercation tragically resulted in her death inside the vehicle,” the statement added. “Realizing that she had died, the suspect stated that he disposed of the body in a nearby bush around 10 p.m. that same day — the location where it was later discovered.”

Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, commended the Divisional Police Officer and his team for their professionalism and determination, assuring the public that justice will be served.

He also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and ensuring accountability, regardless of social or political status.
