The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has sealed facilities belonging to Inner Galaxy Steel across the country over alleged involvement in the vandalism and recycling of railway infrastructure and other critical national assets.

According to the NSCDC, the action followed a court order obtained after the arrest of suspects and the recovery of vandalised railway materials allegedly traced to the company’s facility in Kaduna State.

Speaking during a briefing, the NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, said suspects are being investigated for offences including conspiracy, destruction of railway infrastructure, theft, concealment of stolen property, and alleged financing of terrorism.

He disclosed that recovered railway sleepers and tracks have been handed over to the Nigerian Railway Corporation as exhibits for prosecution.

The Corps also revealed that the court order extends to facilities linked to Inner Galaxy Steel and Jiuxing Integrity Industrial Ltd in Abia and Zamfara states, as well as other branches connected to the investigation nationwide.

Some arrested workers reportedly confessed that vandalised railway materials were transported to the company’s facilities for recycling into products such as nails and roofing sheets.

The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Audi, assured that all suspects found culpable would face prosecution.

He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure and called on the public to provide credible information to help combat vandalism and economic sabotage across the country.
