The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mohamed Buba Marwa, on Monday paid a get-well visit to two officers of the Agency receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Grassroots Parrot reports that the development followed injuries the officers sustained during a violent mob attack while carrying out an anti-drug operation in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory.

The officers, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, were seriously injured on May 15, 2026, when a mob attacked NDLEA operatives during a raid on a notorious drug joint in the community.

During the visit, Marwa sympathized with the officers and assured them of the Agency’s full support, including access to the best medical care until they fully recover.

He reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to ensuring that all those responsible for the attack are identified, arrested, and prosecuted.

“The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested and brought to justice. An attack on our officers is an attack on the state and will not go unpunished,” Marwa stated.

The NDLEA Chairman commended the injured officers for their bravery, professionalism, and dedication to duty, describing their sacrifices in the fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking as invaluable to national security and public health.

As part of efforts to recognize their courage and boost morale, the officers were presented with official Letters of Commendation signed by the NDLEA Chairman, alongside other welfare and support packages to aid their recovery.

Marwa also praised the Agency’s medical personnel and the management of the National Hospital, Abuja, for their prompt response and quality care, which have contributed significantly to the stabilization of the officers’ condition.

He reiterated that the NDLEA remains steadfast in its mandate to combat drug trafficking and dismantle criminal drug networks across the country, assuring Nigerians that the Agency will not be deterred by acts of violence from criminal elements.
