Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party and founder of the Kwankwasiyya movement, on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with Rauf Aregbesola, National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, in Abuja.

Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, Kwankwaso confirmed it took place at his residence, describing Aregbesola as a longtime friend and political ally.

The meeting comes amid growing indications that the Kwankwasiyya movement is engaging in talks with the ADC and other political groups over possible realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

Kwankwaso, a key figure in northern politics, is reportedly exploring new alliances following internal challenges within the NNPP, while Aregbesola’s influence in the Southwest positions him as a strategic link in any potential coalition.

Analysts say the development signals ongoing efforts to build cross-party alliances that could reshape Nigeria’s political landscape as the 2027 elections approach.
