The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested seven young people alleged to be involved in cross-dressing and engaging in immoral activities at a popular relaxation spot along Zoo Road in Kano Municipal.

Deputy Commander General of the board, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen Abubakar, confirmed the development to Radio Nigeria, saying all the suspects are below 23 years old.

According to him, the arrest followed a tip-off from a good Samaritan who reported suspicious activities at the location, including frequent visits by vehicles that allegedly came to pick up young men who gathered there.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects came from Kogi, Bauchi, and Kano States, raising concerns over how the joint attracted youths from within and outside Kano.

In the course of the operation, Hisbah operatives also arrested a young man and a woman who were found together inside a tricycle, an act the board described as inappropriate under local moral codes.

Sheikh Mujahid added that the board successfully traced a missing young lady to Sokoto, where she was found and reunited with her parents.

He said the joint would be sealed off for allegedly harbouring underage individuals involved in questionable activities.

“The suspects and the operators of the facility will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further actions,” he said.
