Bandits have attacked a wedding ceremony in Kahir village in Kaduna State, killing 13 people and abducting an unspecified number of guests.

Residents said the assailants stormed the venue late Sunday night, opening fire on attendees and causing chaos. Several victims sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to hospitals in Kagarko and Kaduna for treatment.

Community sources confirmed that the attackers operated for nearly an hour, also looting shops and a local chemist before fleeing with abducted victims. The exact number of those kidnapped remains unclear.

The Kaduna State Police Command confirmed the killings and abduction, noting that investigations are ongoing, while officials are expected to release a detailed report.

The incident has heightened fear in the area, which has recently experienced a series of bandit attacks, leaving residents in panic and mourning.
