Health workers under the Joint Health Sector Unions JOHESU and the Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations staged a protest at Unity Fountain over a proposed health sector regulatory bill before the National Assembly.
The protesters oppose the bill, arguing it would place all medical professions under the control of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
They insist each profession already has its own regulatory body and warn the move could reduce other health workers to a subordinate role.
The group plans to proceed to the National Assembly to present their concerns directly to lawmakers.
